SEACEN BOD Holds 50th Meeting
On 16 September 2008, the SEACEN Board of Directors (BOD) held its 50th Meeting at Bank Negara Malaysia. The Meeting was presided by the BOD Chairperson, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, and attended by the two board members, Dato’ Ooi Sang Kuang, Deputy Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia; and Dr. A.G. Karunasena, Executive Director of The SEACEN Centre. The Meeting discussed progress of the SEACEN programme of activities and budget as approved by the SEACEN Board of Governors (BOG), as well as implementation of the BOG decisions.

In compliance with Malaysian laws, the 26th Annual General Meeting was held immediately after the 50th BOD Meeting. At the Meeting, the BOD approved and adopted the Directors’ Report and Accounts as audited and reported by the auditors for the period ended 31 March 2008.


Dr. Sinclair Conducts Workshop for SEACEN Staff
Dr. Peter Sinclair, Professor of Economics, University of Birmingham, UK, conducted a two and a half day Workshop on Curriculum Design for senior staff of the Centre from 22-24 September 2008. The objectives of the Workshop were to enable participants identify key issues and make recommendations for the “Macroeconomic and Monetary Policy Management” courses to be conducted by the Centre. Dr. Sinclair also gave an update of recent macroeconomic developments in the SEACEN countries.

The National Bank of Cambodia is Now a Full SEG Member
In September 2008, the National Bank of Cambodia officially joined the SEACEN Expert Group (SEG) on Capital Flows as a full member. As the 15th member, the National Bank of Cambodia will participate in the exchange of information regarding capital flows and contribute to the SEG Exchange of Data on Capital Flows.
