The SEACEN Expert Group (SEG) on Capital Flows was established by The SEACEN Centre in May 2000, in response to the concern expressed by the SEACEN Governors at the January 2000 Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, over the need to manage capital flows to ensure stability in regional financial markets.

Objectives: The 4th SEG Technical Meeting was preceded by a Seminar to update technical officials of SEG members on the latest economic trends and capital flows. Meanwhile, the main objective of the Technical Meeting was mainly to discuss issues relating to SEG data templates and data reporting, as well as technical issues to enhance the usefulness of the SEG database.

Resource Persons: : Speakers for the Meeting/Seminar included Dr. Joseph Zveglich, Jr., Assistant Chief Economist, Asian Development Bank; Dr. Reza Siregar, Director, Research and Learning Contents, The SEACEN Centre and Mr. Masaru Tanaka, Deputy Director-General and Chief of the Center for Monetary Cooperation in Asia (CeMCoA), Bank of Japan.

Target Group: A total of 18 technical officials from 12 SEG member countries attended the Seminar/Meeting.
