The recent sanctions on Russia are unprecedented in both scale and scope. At the same time, they are also largely untried and untested. As such, there may be unintended consequences that we do not yet know about. This online seminar will highlight some potential implications for the international monetary and financial system, touching upon reserves management (particularly the repatriation of reserves), the role of gold, the role of the US dollar and cryptocurrencies (including CBDCs). Given the speculative nature of the possible consequences, this is meant to be an interactive session with SEACEN members.
