The SEACEN Centre and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) launched the SEACEN Centre’s publication on managing capital flows in small, open, and financially integrated economies focusing on Asia-Pacific economies. The book launch event, entitled: “Challenges and Options in Managing Capital Flows: SEACEN-BSP Capital Flows Conference and Book Launch”, was held in Manila, Philippines on 16th June 2023; and was attended by delegates from SEACEN’s member central banks and monetary authorities and other guests from the Philippines.
Senior Assistant Governor Iluminada Sicat gave the opening remarks, on behalf of the BSP. SEACEN’s Executive Director, Mangal Goswami presented the highlights of the book and moderated the policy roundtable on monetary policy framework and managing capital flows with former Reserve Bank of India Governor Duvvuri Subbarao, former Bank of Thailand Governor Veerathai Santiprabhob, and BSP Department of Economic Research Director Dennis Bautista. SEACEN’s Director of Macroeconomics and Monetary Policy Management Division, Ole Rummel, moderated another panel discussion on emerging trends and challenges on capital flows with Andrew Filardo, Mangal Goswami, Laura Kodres, James Yetman, and Nagaraj Kulkarni.
