Green finance is critical to support the transition towards carbon neutrality. Green finance is the flow of money from the public, private sector, or non-profit sector, that funds sustainable investment projects that tackle climate change, rebuild natural ecosystems and support jobs in green sectors.
As the market for green finance grows, concerns arise as to whether proceeds are invested in green projects, or whether companies instead engage in greenwashing, mispresenting the extent of green investments.
Greenwashing presents a significant obstacle to tackling climate change. However, there is no harmonized and global definition of greenwashing. The purpose of this blog is to explore the topic of greenwashing, examine what is being done to combat greenwashing, and take stock of regulatory developments.
