Speech by SEACEN Centre Executive Director Dr Cynyoung Park

How is artificial intelligence reshaping central banking in Asia?

Discussions explored how AI can enhance payment systems, supervisory capabilities and operational resilience, while also examining emerging risks around cybersecurity, data concentration and financial stability.

At the High-Level Conference of the SEACEN Executive Committee, held on 5 October 2026, senior central bank officials and experts came together under the theme “Central Banking in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Payments, Regulation, and Financial Stability for a Connected Asia.”

The conversations highlighted the importance of innovation alongside strong safeguards, regional cooperation and coordinated policy responses as central banks navigate this rapidly evolving landscape.

Our sincere thanks to Bank Indonesia for the excellent organisation and warm hospitality in Bali, and to all our speakers and participants for their valuable insights and engaging discussions.
