The OMFIF-SEACEN Forum 4th Sept 2018

The SEACEN Centre is pleased to announce the abovementioned Forum, which we are undertaking together with the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) Singapore Office. 
Leading the discussions will be:


Dr. William K. Black, Associate Professor of Economics and Law, University of Missouri-Kansas City and Distinguished Scholar in Residence for Financial Regulation, University of Minnesota Law School and Professor Hans Tjio, Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, Advocate and Solicitor (Singapore), member of the Securities Industry Council, and Deputy Chairman of the SGX Listing Advisory Committee.


Professor Black will be speaking on governance frameworks to mitigate misconduct risk; fraud, insider abuse and criminal misconduct in financial institutions (theory, examples from the last 30 years, and estimates of damage done) and the role of banking regulation and supervision, regulatory enforcement actions, and their interaction with law enforcement agencies.  Professor Tjio will present on changes to be brought about by the Securities and Futures (Amendment) Act 2017; recent market abuse cases; treatment of initial coin offerings and cryptocurrency exchanges by the courts and regulators; and the acquisition and restructuring of business trusts.
