VISITING RESEARCH ECONOMISTS (VREs) AT THE CENTRE
The following Visiting Research Economists (VREs) was at The SEACEN Centre working on various projects during the first Quarter of 2010:
- Dr. Victor Pontines, Lecturer, Flinders University, Australia, visited the Centre from 24 January to 6 February, to assist the Research and Learning Contents Department with work on the SEACEN Expert Group (SEG) on Capital Flows. Specifically, he provided in-house training for the research staff on early warning indicators for capital flows such as the exchange market pressure (EMP) index. As part of knowledge sharing, he also gave a presentation to the Centre’s staff on the EMP index.
- Dr. Nephil Matangi Maskay, Director, Research Department, Nepal Rastra Bank, visited the Centre from 25 January to 4 February, to work on the research project on “Macro-financial Links and Monetary Policy Management” which will be completed in March 2010. He also shared initial findings of his project with the staff of the Centre.
- Dr. Don Nakornthab, Head, Macroeconomic Policy Team, Monetary Policy Group, Bank of Thailand, visited the Centre from 15 to 19 February, to work on the research project on “Household Indebtedness and Its Implications for Financial Stability” which will be completed in March 2010. He presented the findings of the project at an in-house seminar at the Centre.
- Dr. Tientip Subhanij, Chief Researcher, Economic Research Department, Bank of Thailand, visited the Centre from 1 to 5 March 2010, to work on the research project on “Measurement of Market Liquidity Risk” which will be completed by the end of March 2010. She presented the findings of the project at an in-house seminar at the Centre.
