On 7 September 2026, The SEACEN Centre was pleased to host the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) at The SEACEN Centre’s office in Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia. The MoU marks an important step in strengthening cooperation and capacity building in the effective resolution and management of distressed assets —an area that is fundamental to financial stability.
Through this partnership, SEACEN and KAMCO look forward to supporting peer learning, technical cooperation, and practical capacity building across the SEACEN region. Korea’s experience, particularly KAMCO’s role in providing a backstop mechanism by acquiring distressed assets from banks and supporting financial recovery, offers valuable insights that member economies can adapt to their own legal, institutional, and market contexts.

The Centre sincerely thanks KAMCO for its commitment to this collaboration, and we were honoured to welcome Dr. Deok-Gyu Han, Executive Director; Mr. Minjae Song, Team Head of the International Cooperation Department; and Mr. Taegun Kwon of KAMCO’s International Cooperation Department for this important occasion.
We look forward to building on this MoU as a platform for sustained joint activities that contribute to stronger financial systems and greater financial stability across the region.
