The SEACEN Centre at the Bangkok Economic Festival 2026

The SEACEN Centre is proud to partner with the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee on side events at the Bangkok Economic Festival 2026 (12–16 October, Valia Hotel, Bangkok).

The Centre’s contribution focuses on two questions that matter for every central bank in the region: how money is changing, and how financial authorities can keep their ability to act in a more fragmented world.

Wednesday 14 October: a two-part leadership roundtable chaired by Dr Cynyoung Park, Executive Director of The SEACEN Centre

Part 1, Digital Money (10:30–12:00)
This session looks at stablecoins, tokenised money and the future monetary architecture. Speakers come from the Bank for International Settlements – BIS, Bank of England, Bank of Japan (日本銀行), Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Croatian National Bank, Swift, Circle and Nexus.

Part 2, Sovereignty under Pressure (12:30–13:45)
This session looks at strategic technology dependence and institutional agency, including how authorities can stay open to innovation while keeping the capacity to decide and act under stress.

Thursday 15 October: Global Macro Sessions (08:00–16:30)
This full-day programme covers the global outlook, monetary policy in a shock-prone world, digital money and monetary sovereignty, and emerging-market resilience. Dr Park joins Michael Pettis and Brad Setser in the closing debate on global imbalances.

These conversations come at an important moment. SEACEN remains committed to bringing Asia-Pacific perspectives to that work and to helping build a more resilient, inclusive and cooperative international financial architecture.

Our thanks go to the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee and to all speakers and participants. The Global Macro Sessions will be livestreamed. Visit https://lnkd.in/gVFSMnHm for details.
